As an ice cream lover, I am always on the lookout for the best dessert spots in town. When I heard about Dante Soppelsa’s Gelato in Mendoza, Argentina, I knew I had to give it a try. Little did I know that I was about to discover a hidden gem that would exceed all my expectations.
Dante Soppelsa’s ice cream is more than just a frozen dessert. It’s a journey that tantalizes your taste buds with a diverse range of flavors, textures, and pure indulgence. During my visit to the gelato shop, I had the pleasure of meeting Flavio, who graciously shared the inspiring story of this iconic gelato brand and the family behind it.

The Story
As Flavio explained, the Soppelsa family has been making gelato for almost a century, starting with Guerino Soppelsa in 1927. The passion for gelato-making was then carried on by Ernesto Soppelsa, who took the family’s craft to new heights. But it was Dante Soppelsa, Flavio’s father, who really expanded the brand and made it what it is today.

I could see the pride in Flavio’s eyes as he talked about his family’s legacy. He explained how they use only the freshest and highest-quality ingredients to create their gelato, and how each flavor is carefully crafted to perfection. And as Flavio became more involved in the family business, he was able to bring his own creative flair to the mix, constantly coming up with new flavor combinations and techniques to keep the brand fresh and exciting.

When you step into a Dante Soppelsa Gelato shop today, you’ll find yourself surrounded by the brand’s rich history and commitment to quality. Moreover, his family’s dedication to their craft has made them a household name in the region. In addition, with a wide range of flavors inspired by traditional Italian gelato, their gelato offers a modern twist on a classic treat.

Quality & Flavors
But it’s not just the variety of flavors that makes Dante Soppelsa Gelato so special. Each scoop of gelato is like a work of art, carefully crafted to delight the senses. From the rich, creamy texture to the bold and unique flavor combinations, every aspect of the gelato is designed to provide a truly indulgent experience starting as low as 1.75 USD for the smallest order. You can choose from intriguing flavors like Malbec wine, fig and walnuts, tiramisu, lemon mint, blueberry lavender, charcoal, pomelo, lemon olive oil, grilled banana and coconut, passion fruit mousse and many more. It’s impossible not to be tempted by the array of flavors on display.
One of the most exceptional aspects of Dante Soppelsa’s ice cream is its texture. It is ultra-smooth, creamy, and dense, with just the right amount of air whipped into it. This texture is achieved through a slow churning process that incorporates the air into the mixture gradually. The result is a luxurious mouthfeel that is simply unforgettable.

I can attest to the attention they give to every detail of their product. Notably, the ice cream is often served in beautiful artisanal cones, cups or tubs, decorated with fresh fruit or drizzled with homemade sauces. It’s evident that they take pride in the presentation of their gelato, as demonstrated by their meticulous approach.
A Visual & Sensory Delight
But the beauty of Dante Soppelsa Gelato goes beyond just the visual appeal. The premium quality of the ingredients is evident in every scoop, and it’s something that sets them apart from other ice cream shops.
Overall, my experience at Dante Soppelsa Gelato was truly unforgettable. The passion and commitment that the Soppelsa family put into their craft was apparent in every aspect of the shop, and it was a beautiful example of the power of family tradition. I will definitely be returning to Dante Soppelsa Gelato for more of their delicious gelato in the future. You can read more about Argentina’s ice cream here.
